New Joby - Job ... FINALLY !

Yeaaa, well I got the job at Regions Bank. I started Yesterday, but had such a loong day that I was to tired to post anything. The job is about a 25 min -ish drive from where I live in the morning, but the drive back is like 1.5 hours due to the rush hour traffic. We need to move. So, I'm just going to stay at work in the eve's and work OT then deal with THAT nonsense. The job doesn't seem THAT difficult, but there are many elements involved with which I need to keep on top of.

Below is the job discription :

DESCRIPTION : LETTER OF CREDIT SPECIALIST I

REPRESENTATIVE ACTIVITIES:
May perform some or all of the activities listed below:
· Receive letter of credit requests from wire room, customers, branches
or through the mail.
· Review each request to determine if the appropriate terms and conditions are stated correctly.
Forward correct requests to an officer for approval. Incorrect requests are held until clarification can be made.
· Issue letter of credit in accordance with instructions and current ICC publications and regulations.
· Review letter of credit documents to ensure compliance with required terms in order to release payments.
· Assist customers via telephone with questions regarding payments or documentation. This may require researching files, documentation or computer data.
· Analyze and review all requests (i.e., issuance, advising, amendment, etc.) for unclear or inconsistent requirements and ability to communicate any necessary changes required prior to processing the request.
· Recognize suspicious transactions and report them to the appropriate
responsible authority.
· Must be able to follow through on an issue or problem to its proper
completion or solution.
· Ability to make sound decisions based on experience, current practice and information supplied.
· Provide customer service to internal and external customers.

KEY DIFFERENCES:
· Requires limited prior experience and operates under moderate supervision.
· Resolve most questions and problems through knowledge of established policies and refer only the complex issues to higher levels.
· Cross-trained in one or more international operations areas.

Regions Bank

I had an interview Friday morn at Regions Bank. The interview went very well and the position is well suited for me. I know that b/c the interviewing manager told me so 8)

The position involves working at the Regions Bank Administration building. I'll be handing lines of credit regarding real-estate from both residential and commercial accounts. This office is also the hub of their international division, so I will be handling those accounts as well. In total I'll be analyzing, extending or denying notes of credit in worth of about $6.8 BILLION in annual revenues each year.

I'll be working on a 7 person team of which there are currently 5. I was told that Regions will be hiring 2 more persons to round out this department and he had 4 more interviews to do. IN Addition, he mentioned that some of those persons had other skill sets that might be better suited in different departments and he felt that I was a good candidate for this position. He mentioned that I should have some idea by the end of this week.

Keep your fingers crossed for me. I could sure use an better opportunity which will venture me into a career that is far more meaningful.
